For Design software last Trimester we had to come up with a craft beer label. It had to be a blend of ‘Scottish and Australian heritage’
I wanted to find a Scottish myth associated with the water or a water creature. I decided against any that looked too unpronounceable for the uneducated Australian. Any that were too grotesque sounding, evil or fishy would probably not help to sell the beer. I was eventually captivated by a description of a horse-like water spirit called a Nuggie.
“They have a tail that is curled into a circle and a green mane…when the Nuggie jumps into the water it is surrounded by a blue and brilliant flame.”
Of course a ‘Nuggie’ is also a colloquial Australian word for when someone holds another’s head and rubs his/her scalp with their knuckles. (charming behaviour).
Thus my beer label the Nuggie:
